The ten most famous incarnations of God  Vishnu are collectively known as the Dasavathara. These avatars are Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Srirama, Balarama, Srikrishna and Kalki. These ten avathars are beautifully crafted on the arch of this Dasavathara Vilakku and in the center of the lamp, God Vishnu lays on the bed of snake the God Anantha (Ananthashayanam) with Goddess Lakshmi and Bhumidevi holding Vishnu’s head and toe. Dashavatharam Lamps are mostly used in Temples in ancient times, but now a day’s people started using in their homes too. It is widely believed that lighting this Lamp in Pooja room brings prosperity and blessings from god Mahavishnu.
